his award goes to the Holiday Park which can demonstrate an innovation that has help reduce their environmental footprint, costs and/or enhanced their business with a clever and innovative project which may be used by other park operators. We were delighted to win this award. This was based on recent changes to our water system including conversion from diesel to gas heating, utilising heat from the bore water and modifications to how we clean our pools every night.
Park Grounds Award
This Award was presented to the park who demonstrated that they have outstanding grounds or have made a considerable improvement to their park. Athenree Hot Springs & Holiday Park won this award and were commended for having a park maintained like a golf course and significant improvements including new vibrant signage, unique local artwork, pool area refurbishment, and enhancement of several areas of the park including mass planting of natives.

We are very proud to have made the finalist list given the high calibre and size of other entrants, and the fact we are an independently operated park.
Community Business Awards
Athenree Hot Springs and Holiday Park won the Katikati and Waihi Beach Community Business Awards for Best Tourism Business in 2016. Athenree Hot Springs and Holiday Park is an established mid-size Holiday Park and includes Public Thermal Pools, Motel Units and Standard Cabins as well as Camp Sites and On-Site Caravans. We are located at the northern end of the Tauranga Harbour, have welcoming staff, spotless facilities and fantastic Thermal Pools. Our Business won this award due to our Team, Systems and our commitment to exceed our Guests and Customer’s expectations. We combine skills from careers in large companies, staff management to guest experience and continuous improvement. We select staff on the same family values as we have, and genuinely believe we have a fantastic business which we enjoy watching grow.
Smart Business Award
We won this award for dramatically reducing our overall waste footprint on the environment and introducing a recycling station within our Park. This encourages our guests to recycle rather than dump everything into general waste, and resulted in a significant cost saving.
